My family has always subscribed to what we call the ‘throwers and goers’ theory, and in my 10+ years of professional event and hospitality management, I’ve collected zero evidence to disprove this theory! It goes a little something like this: In this world, you have your ‘throwers’ and you have your ‘goers.’ Both are necessary for a great party. Your ‘throwers’ are the ones who always end up playing the host; they know how to plan and organize for large and small gatherings, and parties always flow smoothly. Your ‘goers’ are essential; they bring the fun and energy to your parties, and no celebration is complete without a few great ‘goers’ to get the party started! 

Growing up in a very large family, every celebration required serious planning. I was raised to work alongside my mom in planning annual celebrations and grew up asking questions like: How will we accommodate 30 people for Christmas dinner in our house? What’s on the menu? Is there room in the fridge for everything? Do we have enough room in the closet for coats? Where do we think everyone will want to gather around appetizers? What kind of table settings will we do for a group this size? Is there enough hand soap in the bathroom? 

It wasn’t until I went away to college that I realized I’d developed this set of skills, and it wasn’t until I started my professional life that I realized it was something I was passionate about. I had the opportunity to hone my skills in large scale event management at some of the nation’s most prestigious universities, and I also was lucky enough to join the team at a much-loved local brewery where I developed and managed their private events program for 5 years. 

Now, I’m pleased to combine my passion, skills, and experience into a business of my own. “Throw & Co.” is a nod to my roots, supported by my many years of experience and study in event management.
